Tom Bell – Owner/Director
Tom has twenty years experience in renovation work and is passionate about older homes. Originally, Tom’s apprenticeship was undertaken with his father’s firm specialising in renovation projects. After becoming trade qualified, Tom further developed his skills on a degree course at Unitec that majored in both Construction Management and Quantity Surveying. During and after his studies, Tom worked as a contracts manager and quantity surveyor for a medium-sized commercial construction company. With his studies complete and with some management experience in the commercial sector under his belt, Tom decided to get back to what he was passionate about: residential renovations.
Tom launched his own building company, Bell Carpentry Ltd, in 2003. Initially, Bell Carpentry was a team of two guys and undertook small-scale renovations. In the past ten years the business has grown and the size and difficulty of the building work has increased with Tom’s experience. Tom is passionate about older homes and has become a specialist at renovating villas and bungalows. Bell Carpentry is now successfully completing high quality, complex renovations in Auckland Central suburbs. Architectural new-builds are also now part of the portfolio. Bell Carpentry Ltd has now been re-branded as Sawhorse Ltd.
Tom is a proud business owner and takes great pride in the quality of workmanship he and his team can deliver. He values a good relationship with his clients and sees effective, honest communication as the key to a successful outcome. Tom will advocate for his clients with the council, architects and subcontractors to ensure they get the best build for their money. Tom values honesty, integrity, and hard work.
